Larger Version of Map
The states whose cutoffs have increased from last year are Delaware (+1), District of Columbia (+2), Florida (+1), Kansas (+1), Louisiana (+1), Maryland (+3), Michigan (+1), Mississippi (+2), North Carolina (+1), Oregon (+3), Pennsylvania (+1), South Carolina (+1), South Dakota (+1), Texas (+1), US International (+2), and Wisconsin (+1). The states whose cutoffs have decreased from last year are Alaska (-4), Arkansas (-1), Illinois (-1), Iowa (-1), Kentucky (-2), Massachusetts (-1), Maine (-2), Montana (-2), Nebraska (-2), Nevada (-1), New Hampshire (-1), New Mexico (-1), North Dakota (-2), Oklahoma (-1), Rhode Island (-3), US Territories (-2), Vermont (-1), West Virginia (-2), and Wyoming (-1).
The states whose cutoffs have stayed the same as last year are Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Virginia.
This SI cutoff data has been crowdsourced, collected, and compiled from across the web, including social media such as Reddit, Telegram, Discord, College Confidential, and other anonymous test-prep forums, as well as from my own private conversations with students, parents, guidance counselors, and principals. All junior-year PSAT scores or qualifying alternate entry SAT scores with a Selection Index equal to or above the cutoff will qualify for National Merit Semifinalist status.
Based off Maryland's—and thus, US International's—historic 224 SI cutoff, it appears that despite what you may have heard from other PSAT experts, Alternate Entry scores did in fact factor into the calculation of statewide SI cutoffs this year, as I originally postulated over a year ago.
